About

Aiming to maintain the beauty of our Township, the Comstock Transfer Station manages the garbage and recycling needs of our residents. The Transfer Station is capable of processing and recycling household waste, excluding some hazardous materials. Location and Operating Hours

The Charter Township of Comstock’s Transfer Station is located at 6604 East Main Street

SUMMER HOURS:  APRIL 1- OCTOBER 31st

11:00 am to 6:00 pm – Tuesdays & Thursdays

 9:00 am to 4:00 pm – Saturdays

WINTER HOURS:  NOVEMBER 1- MARCH 31st

 11:00 am to 4:00 pm – Thursdays

  9:00 am to 4:00 pm – Saturdays

Items Accepted in Recycle Bin
  • Metal Cans; steel, tin & aluminum (example: soda, vegetable, fruit, tuna)
  • Plastic Bottles & containers
  • Paper; brown paper bags, non-confidential office paper, newspaper,
    magazines
  • Paper Cardboard, Dairy & Juice Containers
  • Flattened Cardboard & Paperboard
  • Glass Bottles & Jars
  • #1 Plastic- PET; #2 Plastic- HDPE; #3 Plastic- V (or PVC); #4 Plastic- LDPE; #5- FPP; #6 Plastic-PS; #7 Plastic- Other (Five Gallon Buckets, plastic toys, some food containers, etc.)

DO NOT INCLUDE: Food waste, plastic bags, polystyrene foam cups & containers, hangers, or hazardous waste

Items Not Accepted

Kitchen food, household garbage, batteries, propane or oxygen tanks, oil drums, fuel tanks, gasoline, oil, sawdust, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, televisions, large quantities of building materials, rocks, sand, concrete, asphalt, bricks, chemicals, ammunition or fireworks, vehicle parts or dead animals.

Additional Information
  • All Comstock Township residents are required to have an ID Card to use the Transfer Station.
  • A new or replacement card can be obtained by proof of Comstock residency (Michigan Driver’s License), one per household, at the Township Office or at the Transfer Station for a fee of $20.00.
  • This card can be renewed annually thereafter for a fee of $10.00.
